Federal Charges Against Oxygen Forensics Executives Over Hidden Russian Ownership
Two executives of Oxygen Forensics, a Virginia-based digital forensics software company, were arrested and charged with wire fraud for allegedly concealing the firm’s Russian ownership and development from U.S. government agencies. Prosecutors allege that Lee Reiber and Oleg Davydov hid the company’s ties to Russian security services to secure approximately $2 million in contracts with the Department of Defense, Secret Service, and Department of Homeland Security. The case highlights concerns over the opacity of private company ownership in the U.S., particularly after the Treasury Department recently halted data collection on corporate ownership.
