EU vows Ukraine-focused stance, won’t be a neutral mediator in Ukraine-Russia talks, says Kallas
EU High Representative Kaja Kallas says Europe will never be a neutral mediator between Russia and Ukraine, stressing the EU is on Kyiv’s side and will complement but not replace US efforts. She outlined a united EU position with concessions Russia must make (non-recognition of occupied territories, cessation of sabotage, cyberattacks, and interference, reparations, return of abducted Ukrainian children, release of journalists, and troop withdrawal from Georgia and Moldova), plus possible steps like demilitarising Zaporizhzhia and humanitarian corridors, all aimed at a common European mandate rather than appointing a single envoy.
