UK Partial Eclipse Delights Crowds Across Southwest and Islands
Thousands gathered across the UK Southwest and the Channel Islands to witness a partial solar eclipse, with 94–96% of the Sun obscured at peak in Devon, Cornwall, Jersey and Guernsey around 19:15 BST and more than 90% coverage for much of the rest of the UK; the spectacle lasted about 1 hour 50 minutes, coinciding with a heatwave, as spectators shared eclipse glasses and marveled at the event. The next total eclipse isn’t until 2090.
