Denver Secures 11th NCAA Hockey Title with 2-1 Frozen Four Win Over Wisconsin
Denver edged Wisconsin 2-1 to win its 11th NCAA men's hockey championship at the Frozen Four in Las Vegas, led by goaltender Johnny Hicks’s standout performance (29 saves in the final, 78 across two games) after Wisconsin grabbed a first-period lead. The Pioneers tied it in the third when Garrett Brown setup Kyle Chyzowski for the go-ahead redirect at 14:08, with Brown having assisted on the tying goal earlier by Rieger Lorenz. A late crossbar by Ben Dexheimer nearly kept it tied, but Denver held on for the title, their fourth in the last decade.
