Guinness to Cease Production at Baltimore County Brewery

Diageo, the beverage company that owns Guinness, will shut down its manufacturing plant in Relay, Maryland, this spring, resulting in the layoff of about 97 workers. The taproom, restaurant, and innovation brewery will remain open. The Relay plant was Guinness’ first brewing operation in the United States since the 1950s. The company said it is evaluating options to continue production of the beer. The Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Baltimore County will continue to brew experimental beers, to be served in the taproom, in a 10-barrel innovation brewery on the ground floor of the visitor center.
