Uganda media shut down in military-style crackdown led by president's son
Uganda’s leading independent media outlets, including Daily Monitor, NTV and Spark TV, were ordered closed with armed soldiers deployed outside Daily Monitor's Kampala headquarters; Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the army chief and president Museveni's son, said the press should be guided by cadres of the revolution and that outlets would not reopen without his permission, signaling a crackdown amid long-standing concerns over press freedom and dissent.
