
New Data Links GLP-1 Drugs to Nail and Hair Loss, But Causation Remains Unclear
Two new studies presented at the 2026 European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology Congress in Vienna found that individuals taking GLP-1 receptor agonists for obesity or diabetes experience significantly higher rates of nail detachment and hair loss compared to non-users. While the association is strong, experts caution that rapid weight loss and nutrient deficiencies may be the primary drivers rather than the drugs themselves.
