
Snap cuts 1,000 jobs as AI push targets profitability
Snap Inc plans to lay off about 1,000 employees (16%), citing rapid AI advancements to reach profitability, joining a wave of tech layoffs tied to automation; the move comes after activist investor Irenic Capital pressed for cost cuts, and Snap, which employs ~5,200 people with 300 open roles, saw shares rise about 6% after the announcement.
