Ford's $30,000 Fathom EV pickup is undergoing hot-weather testing with heavy camouflage in Las Vegas. Despite Ford CEO Jim Farley's push for a “new silhouette,” the prototypes look like a conventional four-door crew cab, though Ford claims a more aerodynamic front end may emerge. The Fathom rides on Ford's Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) platform, featuring a structural battery pack with prismatic LFP cells and two large aluminum castings that replace 146 parts to cut complexity, parts, fasteners, and assembly time. Ford says the lineup will offer multiple battery options and all-wheel drive, with BlueCruise, bidirectional charging, a large touchscreen, and standard Apple CarPlay/Android Auto; a native NACS connector is suspected but unconfirmed.
