What Turns You Into a Mosquito Magnet
Mosquito bites aren’t random: biology matters. People with blood type O may attract nearly twice as many bites as those with type A, and higher CO2 output, lactic acid on the skin, body heat, and even clothing color—all cues mosquitoes use—can draw them in. Metabolic factors from exercise, pregnancy, overweight, or alcohol also increase bite risk (a beer can raise it). To prevent bites, avoid peak mosquito times, cover exposed skin, and use a DEET-based repellent (about 5% DEET for ~90 minutes). If bitten, don’t scratch; use cold packs, hydrocortisone, or non-drowsy antihistamines for relief.
