UK detox fad tied to poisonous frog skin ends in fatality
A UK wellbeing coach, Kristian Trend, died in Leicester after taking part in a kambo detox ceremony that uses dried secretions from a poisonous Amazonian frog. Kambo is not regulated by the UK Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency and has bans in several countries; the frog toxin is sold as a wellbeing aid. A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of administering poison, and authorities say the Leicestershire Coroner will open an inquest with toxicology tests ongoing to establish the cause of death.
