EU warns Iran conflict could echo for years as it rolls out energy relief and a clean-energy push
EU chief Ursula von der Leyen warns the Iran war could have lasting spillovers, urging Europe to cut its reliance on imported fossil fuels and accelerate a home-grown, clean-energy mix (renewables to nuclear). Brussels is also rolling out emergency state-aid measures: farmers and hauliers can claim up to €50,000 for extra fuel costs, and energy-intensive industries can receive up to 70% of the incremental electricity cost to cushion price shocks through 31 December.
