Residents in specific areas may need to head north to witness the totality longer, and a revised map is available for those on the edge of totality to check.

"Northeastern US Braces for Severe Weather: Wind, Rain, and Snow Threaten New York City and Chicago"

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning and Wind Advisory for the Finger Lakes and Central New York, with damaging winds and widespread power outages expected due to an approaching wind event. The warning begins late Friday and expires Sunday at 4 a.m., with sustained winds between 25 and 35 mph and gusts exceeding 60-65 mph. The concern is heightened by the upcoming drop in temperatures, making travel difficult and increasing the likelihood of trees and power lines coming down. Residents are advised to stay indoors and away from trees and branches in the warned areas.
