Insta360's X5, an 8K 360-degree action camera with dual large sensors, FlowState stabilization, replaceable lenses, and a 3-hour battery, is on sale for $465 at Amazon during Labor Day deals, down from $550; the device emphasizes post-capture framing and strong low-light performance, making it a strong competitor to GoPro and other 360 cameras.
Keychron has launched the C100 8K, a wired USB-C macro pad with 100 programmable keys in a 10×10 grid, an 8 kHz polling rate, north‑facing transparent keycaps, and Apex Red switches with hot-swap sockets. It ships unbound by default and is configured via Keychron Launcher for per-key macros and RGB effects. Priced at $64.99, it targets gaming, content creation, CAD, coding, and other wide‑ranging tasks, and there is no wireless option.
Insta360’s X6 shrinks the design from its predecessor while boosting video specs, using dual 1/1.1-inch Sony sensors for improved low-light performance and Dolby Vision in-camera HDR; it records 8K up to 50fps, offers up to 6K/120fps or 4K/240fps in Bullet Time, and retains replaceable lenses (cheaper and more scratch-resistant). It also adds a larger 2.32-inch OLED display, a bigger 2,600mAh battery (about 51% longer than the X5), and features like InstaFrame and PanoMind AI, with waterproofing to 66 ft and an upgraded dive case. Available now from $699.99, with an Essentials Bundle for $799.99.
Leaks via Best Buy confirm the Insta360 X6 will start at $699 in the US (Essentials Bundle $769), a $150 increase over the X5. The camera reportedly features dual 1-inch-type sensors, up to 8K/50fps video, and a 2,600mAh battery for around 140 minutes, with a global launch planned to coincide with DJI’s Osmo 360 II release window.
The piece highlights four best-selling Amazon HDMI splitters—Orei 1x2 (4K/60Hz, HDR), MT-Viki 1x4 (4K/30Hz, long-distance boost), Avedio Links 1x2 (4K/60Hz with HDCP 2.2 and DownScaler), and Llano 1x2 (8K/60Hz, 4K up to 240Hz)—and explains how they let one source feed multiple displays, along with real-world caveats, availability, and price points around $17–$40.
The Insta360 Luna Ultra is a compact dual-camera gimbal with a detachable front plate for remote framing and mic control, offering 8K/30p and 4K/120p capture from a bright 20mm main lens (f/1.8) and a 60mm tele lens, plus 6x/12x digital zoom, 47GB built-in storage, USB-C power, and optional extended-battery. It excels for vlogging with smooth tracking and strong mic integration, but it runs hot in high-res modes, internal battery life is about two hours (less in 4K/120p), an ND kit is recommended for ultra-smooth slow motion, and the small removable screen can be fiddly—though the phone app improves control. Note: it records in Insta360 I-Log, not Leica L-Log.
CineD’s lab test of the Sony a7R VI shows the camera’s dual-gain mode delivering strong dynamic range (up to 14 stops at SNR 2 in 4K DG ON) and very fast readout when DG is OFF (7.2 ms, 15.6 ms with DG ON in 4K), with 8K 25p lacking DG at 13.5 ms. The 8K/SGamut cines-S-Log3 test yields about 11.4 stops at SNR 2 and 12.6 at SNR 1, while the 4K DG ON latitude reaches around 13–14 stops in IMATEST terms, but real-world latitude tops out around 9 stops and struggles at 10 stops due to the camera’s 10-bit internal codec (no 12-bit RAW like some competitors). In short: strong DR and rolling-shutter performance, but latitude doesn’t yet dethrone the Lumix S1 II in practical testing.
GoPro’s Mission 1 lineup—tiny cinema cameras with 8K video and 50MP stills on a one‑inch sensor—took three NAB Show awards before shipping begins May 28; the trio includes Mission 1 (8K30 Open Gate), Mission 1 Pro, and Mission 1 Pro ILS (GoPro’s first mirrorless, Micro Four Thirds mount, manual focus). Pre-orders are open, with prices starting at $599 for Mission 1 and $699 for Mission 1 Pro; the ILS is priced the same as the Pro.
GoPro launched the Mission 1, Mission 1 Pro, and Mission 1 Pro ILS compact 8K cinema cameras, priced at $599.99 for the standard model and $699.99 for the Pro and ILS (the ILS uses a Micro Four Thirds mount for interchangeable lenses). The Mission 1 records 8Kp30, the Pro does 8Kp60 with faster 4Kp240 slow‑mo (and 16x Full HD slow motion). Both share a built‑in 15–27mm f/2.8 lens, 50MP RAW stills, HyperSmooth stabilization, 10‑bit color, HLG, TimeWarp and timelapse. Preorders run now with a free Point‑and‑Shoot Grip; Mission 1 and Mission 1 Pro ship May 28, while Mission 1 Pro ILS ships in Q3; GoPro stores and retailers (e.g., B&H) are listing preorder availability starting May 21.
GoPro has announced pricing for its Mission 1 camera lineup: the base Mission 1 starts at $600 with a 50‑MP 1‑inch sensor, 8K/30p and 4K/120p; the Mission 1 Pro is $700 and adds 8K/60p, 4K/240p and a 960fps slow‑mo option; the Mission 1 Pro ILS (interchangeable lens) is also $700 and uses a Micro Four Thirds lens mount. Accessories go on sale May 28, with a $100 discount for GoPro subscribers on Pro/ILS; preorder currently bundles a free grip, but there’s no official release date yet (shipping for ILS expected in Q3 2026).
GoPro unveiled the MISSION 1 Series—three ultra-compact, rugged cinema cameras (MISSION 1 PRO, MISSION 1, MISSION 1 PRO ILS) built around a new 50MP 1" sensor and GP3 processor, delivering up to 8K60, 4K240, 8K30/4K120 open-gate, and 14 stops of dynamic range. The lineup includes Micro Four Thirds lens compatibility with the ILS model, plus a broad accessory ecosystem (Media Mod, Wireless Mic, Volta 2, ND filters, grip options) and Enduro 2 battery support for extended runtimes. Preorders start May 21 with shelf availability May 28; PRO ILS and Creator editions arrive in Q3 2026. The cameras integrate with the Quik app and GoPro Subscriptions for workflow and cloud features.

Base and Pro ship May 28; Pro ILS arrives in Q3 2026; pricing is TBD.
The TV industry is dialing back its 8K push as practical benefits and native content remain scarce. LG Display is halting 8K panel production, LG Electronics is winding down its 8K line, and the 8K Association’s membership is shrinking. Analysts note that 8K offers little advantage for typical viewing unless screens are very large and viewers are very close, while 4K dominates and other features like OLED, HDR, and Micro LED drive innovation. 8K may persist only in niche or enthusiast markets rather than as a mainstream standard.
LG Display has paused development of 8K OLED panels, effectively pulling LG out of the 8K TV market for now. The company’s remaining 8K option is LCD-based QNED models, while Samsung remains active in flagship 8K sets. The move comes amid scarce native 8K content and high prices, with Sony also halting 8K production, underscoring the difficult outlook for 8K TVs.
Sony's IMX929, a compact high-speed member of its Pregius S global shutter family, pushes around 8224×6176 (8K-class) resolution at up to about 200 fps (10-bit; ~136 fps at 12-bit) with full-sensor readout, showing that high-resolution global shutter can be achieved without sacrificing speed—primarily aimed at industrial imaging rather than cinema aesthetics.
