Taiwan trains civilians to pilot drones as part of civil-defense push
Taiwan has launched its first civil-defence drone training course to boost public drone literacy and readiness in case of a Chinese invasion, drawing on Ukraine’s drone strategies. The Kuma Academy-led program in Taipei teaches civilians to pilot lightweight, GPS-free, Taiwanese-made drones for observation and rescue rather than arming, with sessions fully booked and open to a wide age range as part of a broader push to mobilize civil defense amid regional tensions.
