"NASA Astronaut's Guide to Balancing Career and Fatherhood"

Anil Menon, a NASA astronaut and former SpaceX flight surgeon, shares how he and his wife, Anna Menon, a lead space operations engineer at SpaceX, manage their demanding careers while raising their two young children. They use astronaut-level problem-solving skills to navigate conflicting schedules and time management, and involve their kids in their space flight training to inspire them to chase their own dreams. The couple hopes to demonstrate the importance of following one's passion through their actions, motivating their children to do the same.

SpaceX Capsule Spotted Across Multiple States in Spectacular Display.

A bright light seen streaking through the sky over north Mississippi was a SpaceX Dragon capsule re-entering the atmosphere after a space flight. The capsule had four astronauts on a private 10-day mission and had been docked at the International Space Station for days before splashing down in the ocean off the coast of Florida.

Badminton-Inspired Heat Shield Set to Take Flight in 2021.

Welsh company Space Forge has designed a heat shield called Pridwen, inspired by the shuttlecock used in badminton, which can be folded before launch and then expanded into a shuttlecock-like shape once ready for re-entry. The heat shield is intended for returning materials from the Moon or from asteroids, or for landing spacecrafts on celestial bodies with atmospheres like Mars or Venus. Space Forge hopes to see a space flight using Pridwen before the close of 2023.

The Impact of Microgravity on Human Cells in Space.

Scientists at Oklahoma State University have found that cellular repair systems respond to microgravity, which could help them better understand the effects of space flight on the human body. The researchers focused on SUMO, small proteins that attach to and modify other proteins in cells, and found that it plays a key role in cellular adaptation to microgravity stress. The study identified 37 proteins that physically interacted with SUMO, including those involved in DNA damage repair, energy and protein production, and maintaining cell shape and division.
