TSA staffing gaps could force some airports to close
As DHS funding remains stalled, TSA officers may go unpaid and call out, potentially leading to airport closures or severe screening shortages at smaller airports. TSA says any closures would be decided on an airport-by-airport basis and they’ll try to use other measures first, but some checkpoints have already been closed and staff could be redeployed from smaller to larger airports, likely causing longer lines and travel delays before the funding crisis is resolved.
