One 75-minute HIIT session per week rivals three workouts for fat loss, study finds
A University of Hong Kong study found that a single 75‑minute HIIT workout each week reduced body fat and waist circumference about as much as splitting that 75 minutes into three workouts, suggesting total exercise time matters more than frequency. After four months, the once‑weekly group lost ~2.6% body fat vs ~3.5% in the thrice‑weekly group, with continued waist reductions at eight months. HIIT offers heart and metabolic benefits, but excessive sessions can disrupt cortisol; the weekend‑warrior approach could help busy people achieve fat loss.
