
BRAT diet debunked as a quick fix for stomach woes
The BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) is not proven to help diarrhea or nausea and is too nutritionally restrictive; it should be used for only up to 24 hours, then gradually reintroduce more nutrient-rich, easily digestible foods and prioritize hydration, while avoiding acidic, dairy, caffeine, alcohol, fried or spicy foods (especially in children).
