Study Challenges Low-Fat Dairy Rule: Full-Fat Dairy Safe at Three Servings Daily
A 12-week randomized trial with 74 adults who are overweight or obese found that three daily servings of full-fat dairy did not affect weight, body composition, energy metabolism, or blood lipids, and even coincided with lower blood pressure and higher intakes of calcium, protein, and vitamin D; findings challenge decades of low-fat dairy guidance and support viewing dairy as a food matrix rather than a single nutrient.
