Lewy body dementia is a progressive brain disease caused by Lewy bodies that affect thinking, memory and movement and can include Parkinson-like symptoms; Turner publicly discussed his diagnosis. The condition affects over 1 million Americans and typically lasts about 5–7 years from diagnosis to death, though it can range from two to 20 years; the official cause of death has not been released.
