Trump Sets July Deadline for EU to Implement Trade Deal or Face Higher Tariffs
President Donald Trump gave the European Union a July 4 deadline to implement the Turnberry Accord trade deal, warning tariffs would rise to “much higher levels” if the agreement isn’t enacted; the deal would lower tariffs on U.S. goods in exchange for EU tariff concessions and energy investments, with EU officials saying progress is being made but non-tariff barriers have yet to be addressed.
