Asteroid Close Encounters: MH4 and 2023 MU2 to Fly by Earth in June 2023.

The Virtual Telescope Project, operated by astronomer Gianluca Masi, captured footage of a house-size asteroid, 2023 MU2, racing past Earth at 2,000 miles per hour. The asteroid, estimated to be between 13.5 and 30.1 feet in diameter, reached a minimum distance from Earth of just 134,000 miles on June 25. Fortunately, it posed no risk of striking our planet. Masi used several different telescope images to create a moving time-lapse image of the asteroid, which shows background stars racing past 2023 MU2, demonstrating its impressive speed.
